LONDON, Aug 31: Britain’s Prince Harry called Princess Diana “the best mother in the world” on Friday in a heartfelt memorial service address which reduced public mourners to tears.
Prince Harry, who was 12 when his mother died, spoke of the sense of loss he and his brother Prince William still feel, a decade after their mother was killed in a car crash in Paris.
“William and I can separate life into two parts,” he told 500 guests at the Guards Chapel.
“There were those years when we were blessed by the physical presence beside us of both our mother and father and then there are the 10 years since our mother’s death.”
William and Harry spent months organising the event, attended by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Prime Minister Gordon Brown.—AFP
