Thorpe cleared

SYDNEY, Aug 31: An Australian inquiry cleared legendary swimmer Ian Thorpe of doping allegations Friday after finding no evidence that the country’s most decorated Olympian had taken performance-enhancing drugs.

Thorpe had angrily denied the claims first raised by a French newspaper in March and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) said a comprehensive review of the evidence left no room for doubt about the finding.—AFP
