HYDERABAD: US official meets district nazim

HYDERABAD, Aug 30: The political officer of US consulate general, Mathew Burt, met with District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil at his office, on Thursday.

The district nazim apprised the US official about the historical background of Hyderabad and various development schemes initiated in different parts of the district.

He said Hyderabad airport would soon be reopened and six new hospitals and a trauma centre are also being constructed.

Mr Kanwar further said that special emphasis has been laid on education and last year ten Urdu/Sindhi medium schools were converted into English medium while 100 more schools are being converted into English medium teaching.

He said textbooks, uniforms, notebooks etc. are being provided in 110 schools from district government funds.The managing director SITE will be visiting Hyderabad and the district government would hand him over the required land for extension of existing SITE, Mr Kanwar added.
