Asylum seekers held in Austria

VIENNA, Aug 29: Austrian police said on Wednesday that they had dismantled a group that apparently smuggled some 250 Indians and Pakistanis from Slovakia to Italy via Austria.

Police said 10 people, mostly asylum seekers, had been arrested and seven others charged. Two ring leaders operating out of Austria were arrested and two others running operations in Slovakia identified. All four were Pakistanis, the Austria Press Agency reported.—AFP
