Yousuf scores century break: Latif Masters Snooker


KARACHI, Aug 29: Former world champion Mohammad Yousuf hammered the highest century break of 132 against Sohail Shehzad to steal the limelight on the opening day of the 21st Latif Masters’ Snooker Championship at the Karachi Club on Wednesday.

His break came in the first frame as he triumphed 4-2; the score being 132-0, 71-12, 51-59, 77-28, 95-59, 15-0.

Earlier, he received a walkover against NWFP’s Rambel Gul, who failed to turn up.

Abu Saim, the losing semi-finalist at this year’s national championship, also shone when he notched up second century break (124) of the day against Vishan Gir. Saim was home 69-57, 76-49, 6-91, 79-1, 124-1, 81-0.

Defending champion Naveen Perwani conjured up two successive victories. First he beat Atif Mughal 4-2 and then whipped Mohammad Nazeer by the identical score line (4-2).
