Pakistan win warm-up ties

KARACHI, Aug 29: Bidding to regain the Asia Cup, the Pakistan hockey team won both their warm-up matches against Bangladesh and the Tamil Nadu Hockey Association (TNHA) in Chennai, India.

In their day match on Wednesday, Pakistan hit a brace of goals in each of the two 20-minute halves to defeat Bangladesh 4-0.

The match was played over halves of 20 minutes each on the request of the Bangladesh side.

In the first session, Tariq Aziz scored a field goal while Mohammad Imran scored through a penalty corner. The young duo of Yasir Islam and Mohammad Arshad added to the total with two more field goals in the second half.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan trounced the TNHA side 8-4 with Tariq Aziz grabbing a hat-trick and Akhtar scoring two goals. Skipper Rehan Butt, Abbas Haider and Ihsanullah slammed the other three goals.—APP
