Wapda to face Army in final

KARACHI, Aug 29: Holders Army and Wapda fought their way into the final of the National Inter-department Basketball Championship when they brushed aside their respective opponents in the semi-finals at the Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday.

Trailing 21-25 at the interval, the soldiers bounced back to turn the tables on Habib Bank 68-59, thanks to their principal scorer Pervaiz who amassed 23 points.

He was ably assisted by Mudassir (16) and Waheed (14).

Umer and Altaf Habib scored 16 and 11 for the bankers.

Fancied Wapda maintained their ascendancy when they outplayed PAF 68-41. The winners led 31-25 at halftime.

Ahmed Jan shone for the winners with an individual score of 23. He was followed by Prem Shahzad (19). Nadeem and Imran contributed 10 and 8 for the losing side.

The final between Army and Wapda will be played on Thursday at 8.00pm.
