Traders asked to reduce prices

MARDAN, Aug 29: District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar has asked traders to voluntarily reduce prices of essential commodities keeping in view the advent of Ramazan and implement rates fixed by the district price review committee.

He was speaking at a meeting of the price review committee at his office on Tuesday.

District coordinator officer Syed Mubashir Hussain Shah, Fayyaz Ali Shah, office-bearers of traders’ organisations and officials of the food and health department attended the meeting which reviewed the demand and supply situation of different commodities.

The meeting also discussed traffic and encroachment problems in various bazaars of the city and directed the Tehsil Municipal Administration to launch an anti-encroachment campaign. It asked the traffic police to prepare a master plan for resolving the traffic problem in the city.

The committee reduced the per kilogramme price of Rice Sela No. 1 from Rs55 to Rs53, Maida from Rs20 to Rs19 and Dal Mong from Rs52 to Rs44 and fixed prices of per kilogramme Rice Sela No. 2 at Rs47, Dal Mong Salim at Rs.39, Dal Mash at Rs68, Dal Mash Dhoti at Rs60, Baisan No.1 at Rs.42, Lobia Red at Rs47 and Sweets Mix at Rs85. The rate of 140 grams Roti was fixed at Rs3.
