Lahore reign supreme at national weightlifting

LAHORE, Aug 28: Lahore has won both the Under-17 and Under-15 national weightlifting ranking championships on Tuesday.

Some 14 districts took part in the national event in which Lahore, with five gold medals, two silver and three bronze, bagged first position in the U-17 event. Faisalabad with two gold and three bronze was second and Gujranwala was third with one gold and three bronze.

In the Under-15 event, Lahore grabbed four gold medals, six silver and three bronze to dominate Gujranwala (three gold, one bronze) and Faisalabad (one gold, one silver) who took the second and third spots respectively.

RESULTS

U-15:

44kgs: Arsalan (Gujranwala) total weight 84kgs; 50 kgs: Summair Khalid (Faisalabad) 145 kgs; 56kgs: Salman Saleem (Gujranwala) 157kgs; 62 kgs: Arbab Raza 182 kgs; 69kgs: Satoon Saddique (Lahore) 145kgs; 77kgs: Irfan Butt (Lahore) 136kgs; 85kgs: Azhar Aamir (Gujranwala) 212kgs; Above 85kgs: Jabran Butt (Lahore) 119kgs.

U-17:

50kgs: Majid (Lahore) 157kgs; 56kgs: Nadeem (Faisalabad) 168kgs; 62kgs: Haroon Saddique (Lahore) 169kgs; 69kgs: Umar (Guj) 240kgs; 77kgs: Ali Shan 205kgs; 85kgs: Khawar Khalid (Faisalabad) 202kgs; 94kgs: Faizan Khan (Lahore) 215kgs; Above 94kgs: Azhar Javed Butt (Lahore) 195kgs.
