NBP clients demand ATM

Published August 29, 2007

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 28: Account holders of the National Bank of Pakistan main branch are facing inconvenience due to non-availability of automated teller machines or ATMs on the bank premises, Dawn has learnt.

Thousands of NBP account holders have to pay additional charges for transactions for using ATMs of other banks.

Account holders said they had to wait for hours to draw cash from the bank as all the accounts of public treasury and offices were with the NBP main branch. They said they faced inconvenience due to non-availability of the facility not only on days-off and but also during the banking hours because of rush.

They said the installation of the ATM would not only facilitate the clients but also mitigate pressure on the bank staff to handle clients. All other banks in the Dera Ghazi Khan city are equipped with ATMs except the NBP. When contacted, an official of the NBP main branch said they issued ATM cards to their account holders on their request while the suggestion for the installation of an ATM had also been sent to the top management. — Correspondent
