GUJRANWALA, Aug 28: Shaukat Hayat Chattha, a former MPA from Wazirabad who was currently a member of PML’s Jonejo faction led by Hamid Nasir Chattha, joined the Pakistan Muslim Leage-Nawaz along with his supporters here on Tuesday.

He remained a member of the Punjab Assembly during 1985-1988 and 1997-1999. Speaking at a press conference, Shaukat Chattah said remaining affiliated with the current ruling alliance was his a mistake. He said he would contest the forthcoming elections on the PML-N ticket against his former leader Hamid Nasir Chattha.

Meanwhile, former federal minister and PML-N leader Ghulam Dasatgir Khan welcomed Shaukat Chattha in the PML-N and expressed the hope that more people would join his party soon.

He criticised PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto for negotiating a ‘deal’ with the government and Gen Musharraf and claimed that it would tarnish her image as general public and workers were disappointed after hearing reports that she was inking such a deal.

Khan also criticised former defence minister Col Ghulam Sarwar Cheema for changing parties repeatedly and abusing the PML-N in past. He said Cheema would not be taken back in the party. He said party tickets would be awarded by the parliamentary board during its meeting in Gujranwala. He said Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif would return to Pakistan between Sept 10 and 12. — Correspondent
