Employees’ strike continues

MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 28: A pen-down strike by employees of the AJK accountant-general’s office entered the fifth day on Tuesday.

The employees have pledged that they would continue the protest until promises made by authorities regarding their demands are not fulfilled.

The protesters alleged that the federal secretary in-charge of the AJK council had aggravated their miseries by denying them the rights and facilities that had been granted to other departments’ employees under the AJK government.

The AJK AG office is among those few departments that falls under the jurisdiction of the AJK Council. It has its secretariat in Islamabad.

AJK Legislative Assembly member Muhammad Hanif Awan met the striking employees on Monday, and expressed solidarity with them.
