PESHAWAR: Bail granted to 3 juvenile offenders

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Aug 28: A local court has granted bail to three juvenile offenders charged with sexually abusing a boy of 6.

The court of additional district and sessions judge Gohar Rehman Khan ordered that the three applicants be released after furnishing sureties of Rs70,000 each.

The court accepted the application of the three offenders after the complainant — Zainullah, the father of the victim — stated that he had decided to pardon them, keeping in view their ages.

The applicants — Nasir, 10, Zeeshan, 12, and Nauman, 12 — were arrested by the police after an FIR was registered against them at the Yakatoth police station on Aug 19 under sections 34 and 377 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The complainant claimed that the three accused had taken his son to a park near his residence and had sexually assaulted him. The elders of the locality had intervened and arranged a compromise between the rival families.

The court observed that although a compromise could not be made in offences under section 377 of the PPC, which dealt with unnatural sexual offence, there was a ruling of the Supreme Court saying a compromise could be considered for releasing an accused on bail.
