4 players enter main round

LAHORE, Aug 27: Four players qualified for the main round of the Punjab Open squash championship after winning their last round matches at the Punjab Squash Complex on Monday. The main round begins from Tuesday.

Sheikh Saqib (Punjab) defeated Waseem Shad (NWFP) in a tough match which lasted 47 minutes and stretched to full five sets. Saqib won 9-11,11-6,11-2,7-11,11-6.

In another five set encounter, Nowsherwan (NWFP) overcame the challenge of Asif Khan (NWFP) 8-11,0-11,12-10,11-7,11-9. He fought for 35 minutes.

Safeer Ullah Khan (PAF) earned a facile win against Hamza Bukhari (Punjab) 11-8,11-6,11-10 in 31 minutes.

Shoaib Hassan (Punjab) easily ousted Aurangzeb Khan (Punjab)11-3,11-1,11-4.—Sports Correspondent
