Lawyers rap Afgan, Arbab

Published August 28, 2007

LAHORE, Aug 27: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Niazi’s statement attacking the judiciary is an attempt to create an impression as if anarchy reigned supreme in the country, according to Lahore High Court Bar Association President Ahsan Bhoon.

The minister, in a TV channel talk show, criticised the Supreme Court’s decision allowing the Sharifs to return to the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Mr Bhoon said lawyers condemned the statement, which, according to him, aimed at debasing the Supreme Court. He demanded the government strips him of the ministry. — Reporter
