KARACHI: Research a priority: Ibad

KARACHI, Aug 27: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that the provincial government was working on a priority basis on research-oriented faculty development and infrastructure upgradation in universities with the federal government’s support.

Talking to Dr Mazharul Haq, Vice-Chancellor of the Sindh University at the Governor’s House, he said millions of rupees would be spent on research, academic and infrastructure development projects in Sindh.

The meeting noted that 100 foreign PhD scholarships were being provided to the faculty members as part of Human Resource Development. New academic blocks were being developed for different departments, centres and institutes while the existing ones were also being upgraded.

The Sindh University, established in 1947 in Karachi and later shifted to Hyderabad, has eight faculties and 75 affiliated colleges.—PPI
