By A Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 27: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has set up the Technical Evaluation Board to ascertain the causes of unprecedented flooding in of many areas in its jurisdiction during and many days after the rains.

The board will be headed by a former Managing Director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Brig (r) Iftikhar Haider, a statement issued here on Monday said.

It said the board would identify the technical and design inadequacies in the existing drainage and sewerage system in the DHA. It would also pinpoint maintenance and procedural shortcomings in the upkeep of the system.

The board has been assigned the task of preparing a comprehensive and workable plan for upgrading the system so that the DHA residents do not face such problems in future.

The DHA has requested the residents’ welfare associations and their members to submit their suggestions in this regard to the head of the board by Sept 5.

It has also advised all the concerned to call 0333-2371080/9266833 during office hours if they wish to submit any proposal.
