Third straight win for Army cagers

KARACHI, Aug 26: Defending champions Army conjured up their third successive victory when they humbled

POF Wah 58-30 in the National Inter-departmental basketball championship at the Arambagh floodlit court on Sunday.

Khalid (13), Pervaiz (12) and Waheed (11) were major contributors for the soldiers, who led 29-12 at half time. Ishaq and Ejaz scored 13 and 11 for the losers.

In the morning, the soldiers taught a lesson to KESC by handing them a 70-27 defeat in the one-sided game.

Earlier, they emerged 74-30 victorious against Railways in the opener on Saturday night.

In another match, Umer’s

21 points went in vain as PAF, who trailed 24-31 at the breather, recovered to edge Habib Bank 57-52 in a closely-fought match.

Tanveer and Imran were the major contributors for the airmen with 19 and 18.

Pakistan Navy also continued their winning sequence when they won two matches on Sunday.

First they routed Rangers 72-42 and later romped home 46-23 against Police.

Prem Shahzad scored 25 points as Wapda whipped Railways 61-46 in the other match of the day.
