KARACHI, Aug 26: Records are meant to be broken and that was what three-year-old bay filly Fantastic Baby proved at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday when she created a new course mark of double hat-trick by landing The Aberdonian Stakes Cup 2007 in great style.

Running like a champion, the public fancy filly won the seven-furlong race in a start-to-finish bid, while outpacing her closest opponent, colt Reyan King, by a wide margin of 14 lengths. She was efficiently ridden home by jockey Ghulam Shabbir II.

Black Girl, a four-year-old dark bay filly, grabbed the third place while mare Voo Doo Doll completed the frame.

Fantastic Baby’s six successive victories which came in a span of two months and nine days include three cups – The Monsoon Cup, The Top Most Cup and The Aberdonian Stakes Cup. Rider Shabbir was aboard on the last four occasions while M. Yousuf and Fahim K rode her home once apiece.

Earlier, debutant two-year-old bay colt Lion Of Arab pulled off the first upset when he claimed The Emirates Farm Cup in the opener. With Fahim K astride, he edged filly Flawless Victory by two-and-a-half lengths. Favourite colt Play Boy had to be content with the third slot while filly Shu Manter completed the board.

Gorella, Royal King and Rolex, as predicted by Dawn, besides Fantastic Baby, obliged punters with fluent wins.

Desperado atoned to earlier losses by galloping to a seven lengths victory over Raaz with M. Nasir in the saddle. Similarly, in a display of in and out running, King Of Cool outpaced Fascinate by 11 lengths to claim the honours.

Closing Argument and Ace Of Base claimed the last two races.

Ghulam Shabbir II, who won six races including three cups during the Independence Day meeting, was again the pick of the day as he credited himself with four triumphs. Fahim rode home three winners.
