SC’s next verdict to be against uniform: Imran

By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA, Aug 26: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that the Supreme Court’s next decision will be against President Pervez Musharraf’s army uniform.

“The judiciary has gained independence and will deliver its next verdict against Gen Musharraf’s uniform,” he said, adding that the judiciary was now active in establishing the rule of law in the country.

Addressing public meetings in Dag Ismailkhel and Akora Khattak on Sunday, he said the president was in deep trouble and US President Bush and Benazir Bhutto could not save him. “Benazir’s deal with the ‘isolated president’ will damage PPP’s image.”

At the Akora Khattak meeting, Abid Siddiqui Advocate quit the PPP and announced joining the PTI.

Imran Khan alleged that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi were looting the country’s wealth and said that poor people had become victims of rampant corruption.

“The government is encouraging the class-based education system which enables the well-off people to get better education.”

He said that an estimated five million people, who died after using contaminated water annually, needed attention.

But, he said, the ruling elite did not take it seriously. He criticised the government for what he called killing innocent people in the Lal Masjid operation.

The PTI chief said that all political parties from the APDM platform had launched an anti-government movement which would continue till the ouster of Gen Musharraf from power.

“Gen Musharraf is killing innocent people in Fata and other tribal areas to please the US.”

He alleged that Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khan had committed 18 murders and 62 criminal cases were registered against the Sindh home minister.

He said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was ‘number one terrorist’ in the country.
