Four arrested for doing wheelie

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: The capital traffic police during the last week arrested four persons and impounded 34 vehicles in their crackdown on wheelie and racing.

Spokesman for the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) said here on Sunday that the police caught four persons red-handed doing wheelie and produced them in the court of law for legal proceedings.

The police also impounded 32 motorcycles and two cars, while 63 bike riders were served with fine tickets. The action was taken under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance.

Senior Superintendent of Traffic (Police) Zubair Hashmi had constituted special squads to curb the practice of wheelie and racing.

The squads set up pickets in different parts of the city, including Faizabad, Murree Road, Islamabad Highway and Kashmir Highway, and took action against the violators.

Unruly youth do wheelie and racing especially on Fridays and Sundays in the evening and night.
