NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 26: People of four villages of union council Phul staged a protest demonstration at Phul regulator of the Rohri canal complaining about the water logging in their area on Sunday.

The protesters, including residents of village Hashim Phul, Abdul Hadi Phul village, Raho Phul and villager Abdullah Faqir, were led by Haji Ali Mohammad Phul, Haji Qurban Phul, Mohammad Luqman Phul and Mohammad Idris Phul.They raised slogans against Scarp and irrigation officials.

They complained that their villages and lands were destroying due to the water logging and salinity while the agricultural lands were rendered barren due to the menace.

They alleged that pumping station established in Phul by Scarp went out of order which had multiplied the water logging and salinity in the area.

They said that schools mosques have also been affected by the water logging.

They demanded of the higher authorities and district nazim to visit their villages and resolve their problems.

SUICIDE BID: A woman attempted to commit suicide in village Sultan Vighio near Lakha Road on late Saturday night.

Reports said that Ms Samina, daughter of Qurban Ali Vighio, attempted to commit suicide by taking pesticide in her house in village Sultan Vighio. She was admitted in taluka hospital Kandiaro. The motive behind the attempt was said to be some domestic problem.

ROBBERIES: Five unidentified armed men looted a house in village Nibahando Ujjan taluka Kandiaro on Sunday morning.

According to report, five men barged into the house of Zakir Hussain and held his family members hostage and looted gold ornaments, cash and mobile worth Rs70,000.

Meanwhile, a man was injured during a house robbery bid in Kaltarpur Mohalla Kandiaro on Sunday. Four unidentified armed entered into the house of Saleem Jogi in Kaltarpur Mohalla. The family members woke up and put up resistance.

The dacoits beat women at the house and opened fire at Saleem Jogi who was seriously injured.
