RAWALPINDI, Aug 25: Special Judge Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 Habibur Rehman here on Saturday acquitted 16 Jamia Fareedia students held on the charge of attempting to forcibly close down shops and ordered their release from the Adiala Jail.

The case was registered with the Kohsar police a few months ago when the seminary students launched a campaign against ‘immorality’ and forced shopkeepers to close down their shops.

The acquitted students are: Mohammad Anwar, Nawaz, Shah Din, Rab Nawaz, Abdul Adyan, Saddam, Munir, Imran, Ashfaq, Kamal Shah, Muneebur Rehman, Jamshed, Saeedur Rehman, Naveed Elahi, Sheraz Ahmed and Mohammad Sohail.

The judge sent Abu Bakr, another seminary student, to Adiala Jail on 14 days’ judicial remand in the case of a Rangers personnel’s killing case.
