QUETTA, Aug 23: Nationalist leader Nawabzada Balach Marri has appealed to the people of Balochistan to set up protest camps and observe hunger, shutter-down and wheel-jam strikes from Aug 23 to 26 in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and others political activists in the province.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that Aug 26 was a tragic and black day for the Baloch people as ‘Dada-i-Baloch (grandfather) Nawab Akbar Bugti’ had sacrificed his life while fighting for rights of Baloch people and protection of their land and resources.

“Baloch nation should express hatred against the military rulers involved in the killing of the ‘Dada-i-Baloch’ and hundreds of others,” Mr Marri said.

“Those four days in which Nawab Bugti fought against the government forces will be remembered as tragic days in the history of Baloch nation,” he said.

He said that although the government had announced the death of Nawab Bugti, no one had seen his body or confirmed his death. “How can we accept that he is not among us? Nawab Bugti is alive in the hearts of the Baloch people.”

He asked the Baloch people to establish hunger strike camps across the province during these four days to pay tributes to Nawab Bugti.
