LAHORE, Aug 22: The manager of the Pakistan team, Talat Ali, again served a notice to legendary express bowler Shoaib Akhtar to appear before him on Thursday for skipping the national training camp on Aug 4 without his (Talat’s) permission.
Talat is to start fresh inquiry into the case after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Appellate Tribunal had suspended his previous decision of imposing a fine of Rs100,000 on Shoaib.
The tribunal had also suspended the decision of the PCB disciplinary committee, which imposed a fine of Rs200,000 for not appearing before it to clarify his position in the same case.
The tribunal headed by Mueen Afzal took the decision only because Shoaib Akhtar could not receive the notice of the disciplinary committee, while Talat had announced the punishment without holding any inquiry.
“We have sent the letter to Shoaib Akhtar to appear before Talat Ali on Thursday. I am not sure if he [Shoaib] receives the letter,” PCB chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi told Dawn.
