RAWALPINDI, Aug 22: Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday issued notices to the SHO of Murree police station and a man to appear in court on August 24 in a fake FIR registration case.

In her writ petition, Samina Bibi, 22, said she had contracted marriage with Ameer Mohammad Khan, a resident of Mianwali, on July 24, 2007 of her free will against the consent of her family residing in Murree. Citing the main reason of her family’s anger, she said her husband did not belong to a Syed clan as she did.

She said her father, Syed Saghir Hussain Shah, got a kidnapping and fraudulent marriage case registered against her husband and herself on August 5, 2007. She said it was also mentioned in the FIR that she had already been married to her cousin, Wajeeh Haider.

The petitioner said the local police, in league with her family, were not taking any action against the act of forged Nikahnama.

The petitioner stated that her family had made her marriage not only a matter of their prestige but also a sectarian issue.

The petitioner, in her statement in the court of a judicial magistrate in Mianwali on July 28, stated that her brother came to her house armed with a pistol and threatened to kill her if she did not get divorce from Ameer Khan.

She had prayed before the Lahore High Court to quash the FIR and sought protection as she feared for her life as well as for her husband. The judge asked the area SHO and the father of the complainant to appear in the next hearing.
