ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Higher Education Minister Nahayan Mubarak Al-Nahayan has set up a trust to arrange world-class education for the dislodged students of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa aged under 10.

Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who has been nominated as the trust’s vice-chairperson, told a news conference here that the new educational institute would also accommodate young students from the earthquake-hit areas of NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

It may be mentioned that the proposed school was announced by the PML president in presence of Minister of State for Information Tariq Azeem some time back exclusively for the children of quake victims.

The school will be set up in a building that was originally constructed by Pakistan’s Ministry of Education to impart technical education to youth of the area, but was abandoned due to lack of water facility.

Mr Shujaat told reporters that both male and female students aged 10 and under would be given admission to the school and the trust would bear all expenses of their boarding and lodging.

Even the students acquiring education upto Cambridge and senior Cambridge level will be facilitated in getting higher education on the trust’s expenses.

Recruitment of teachers has already started, and admissions to class-III to V will be offered in next couple of months.

The UAE higher education minister will be chairperson of the trust, while Federal Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi and Minister of State for Information Tariq Azeem will be its trustees.

The students will be imparted both religious and modern education at the school, and all its expenses will be borne by Sheikh Mubarak.
