CHARSADDA, Aug 20: A jirga was formed on Monday with a view to striving for maintenance of law and order in the district. Leaders of political parties participated in the jirga and passed a resolution for restoring peace and tranquillity in the district.
District Nazim Naseer Mohammad Khan said that Pukhtuns were the real heir to the legacy of Bacha Khan who had preached non-violence and peace throughout his life. He said that it was right time for the Pukhtun nation to follow the late leader’s teachings.
MNA Maulana Gohar Shah said that Islam did allow violence. He said that Islam was a religion of peace, respect and love.
He said the government should work towards finding out indigenous solution to the crisis that had affected law and order in Fata.
MNA Fahana Khalid urged the authorities concerned to bring about changes in education curriculum, such as lessons of peace to inculcate a sense of peace among students.
MPA Rukhsana Naz said that only proper rational education could bring revolution in society therefore we should do more investment in this vital sector.
MPA Arshad Khan said that only social justice could ensure peace and stability in the region.
He called upon the people to live in peace and harmony with their fellowmen for the sake of wellbeing of the mankind.
He said that police force was trying its level best to cope with incidents relating to terrorism despite its dwindling strength.
Mr Shah said several policemen had laid their lives in the line of duty.
MPA Saeed Khan, Charsadda DPO Feroz Shah and DCO Fida Hussain Afridi also spoke on the occasion.
