ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: President of the Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has denied rumours about differences among members of the ruling PML, terming them baseless and unfounded.

“Difference of opinion is quite possible in such large parties. Here every member enjoys right to dissent as party is not being run on personal whims,” he told a private Urdu news channel on Sunday.Terming reports in a section of the press baseless according to which several PML legislators had deliberately abstained from a meeting with the president the other day, he said out of a total of 30 to 40 legislators, only “two or three” had been absent that, too, because of some “unavoidable reasons” like illness or being abroad.

Expressing optimism about the ruling party’s potential to win upcoming election, he said the party was striving to strengthen democratic traditions in the country.

Praising the president’s initiative to negotiate with the moderate elements, he urged politicians to help make the country prosperous and said sound democratic traditions should be promoted in the country.—APP
