Amjad grabs Sindh Open golf crown

KARACHI, Aug 19: Amjad Yousuf won the ninth Sindh Open golf championship at the Arabian Sea Country Club on Sunday.

He carded a smart four-under-par 68 to complete a 54-hole event with an aggregate of 213 to lead the pack of 30 golfers on the final day.

Amjad of the Karachi Golf Club, putting and chipping masterly, made six superb birdies.

Ace golfer Shabbir Iqbal, who won the Chief of Naval Staff Championship last Sunday, finished fourth by completing the third round with three-over-par with a total of 216. His score included six bogeys.

Mohammad Siddique of Faisalabad claimed second position with a blistering final round of four-under-par 68 and finished with total of 214.

Shahid Javed Khan remained the most consistent of the lot to end with an aggregate of 215 after rounds of 71, 72 and 72.

Amjad Yousuf received Rs87,000 for winning the event while Mohammad Siddique collected Rs57,000.
