By A Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 19: Destitute women of the Rawalpindi region have demanded immediate release of Rs2.4 million dowry funds lapsed during the last four years.

The Supreme Court has asked the secretary Auqaf Punjab to appear before the court on August 22 and explain why the money could not be distributed among the disadvantaged women.

This was stated by vice-chairperson of Zonal Jahaiz (dowry) Committee, Farhat Naz Abbasi, while talking to Dawn here on Saturday night.
