HYDERABAD: Newborn baby kidnapped from hospital

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Aug 19: A newborn baby was kidnapped from Shah Bhittai hospital on Sunday morning reportedly by a woman.

Feroza, wife of Nadeem Yusufzai, a carpenter living in Mumtaz Colony, Latifabad Unit-2, gave birth to a girl. Feroza’s mother-in-law was staying with her in the gynaecology ward.

Feroza was in lavatory while her mother-in-law was preparing tea when the woman, who had been staying in the same ward, took away the baby.

According to Nadeem’s sister-in-law, Bano Parveen, was admitted in the same ward on the adjacent bed and her mother, Wahidan, was staying with her. She told hospital doctors that Wahidan had said that she knew the woman who had abducted the baby. But later, Wahidan changed her statement and said that she did not know her.

The matter has been reported to Hussainabad police. No FIR, however, has been registered.

There used to be a police picket at the entrance of Bhittai hospital but it has been recently moved from there.

RMO of the hospital Dr.Jamshed Khanzada confirmed that a baby girl had been taken away from the hospital and the matter had been reported to police. He said baby was born three days ago.

Dr.Jamshed said the ward remained locked during night and opened in the morning. He blamed the baby’s family for negligence and woman’s mother-in-law who left the baby alone.
