KARACHI: 3 policemen remanded

KARACHI, Aug 19: The judicial magistrate, East, Allah Bachayo, on Saturday remanded three policemen in police custody till Aug 25, who were arrested in the murder case of Abdur Rahim Baloch, son of Abdul Wahab, on Aug 16, 2007.

A case was registered by Abdullah Baloch, brother of the victim, at the Al-Falah police station against Assistant Sub-inspector Basharat, head constables Yousuf and Nazir and Constable Waheed Gul, under Section 302/34 on Aug 17. However, Waheed Gul is still at large.

Mr Baloch told Dawn that his brother was innocent and was falsely implicated in a murder case. He said that the case against his brother was registered in April 2007. “I was informed by the police on Aug 13 and I instantly called up my brother, who was in Lahore, and produced him before the police” he said. He alleged that the police personnel had demanded a bribe to change the nature of the case, which he had refused to pay.

Abdur Rahim, 26, was shot dead on Aug 17 in an illegal police custody behind the Al-Falah police station.
