Award-winning mathematician passes away


PRINCETON (New Jersey), Aug 17: Atle Selberg, who won mathematics’ highest prizes for his work on the properties of numbers, has died. He was 90. The Norwegian-born Selberg died Aug. 6 at his home in Princeton, according to the Institute for Advanced Study, where Selberg was an emeritus professor.

The cause of death was heart failure, Selberg’s family told The New York Times for Friday newspapers.—AP
