PCB starts work on Niaz Stadium

HYDERABAD, Aug 17: The management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started implementation on its plans to rebuild Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad. According to a board official, the PCB has begun the work by preparing the centre and practice pitches at the stadium.

The handing over of Niaz Stadium to PCB Chairman Dr Naseem Ashraf and Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi by District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil took place earlier this year, on July 17, after a simple yet impressive ceremony.

This was made possible after a decade of struggle by cricket fans, players and organisers from Hyderabad as well as other parts of Sindh’s interior amongst rising concerns over no international matches being played here since 1997. —APP
