HYDERABAD, Aug 17: Protest demonstrations were held in several districts of Sindh under the aegis of “Save Sindh Committee”, formed at an all-party conference convened by Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party in the wake of May 12 tragedy.
The province-wide protest call was given by the committee to condemn delay in the arrest of culprits of May 12 killings, allocation of 50 per cent government jobs to the MQM, non-payment of compensation to flood victims and demolition of old Sindhi villages in Karachi.
In Hyderabad, the demonstration outside local press club was led by STP leaders Hoth Khan Gadhi, Muzaffar Kalhoro, Dr Ahmed Nonari, Taluka Naib Nazim Qasimabad Hyder Shahani, President of Sindh ANP Asmatullah Mehsud, JUI's Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon and others.
Speaking on the occasion Hoth Khan Gadhi said that if rulers did not mend their ways then oppressed people would throw them out of government.
He said old Sindhi villages were being demolished so that Sindhi people could be expelled from Karachi which would not be tolerated.
Muzaffar Kalhoro said that people of Sindh asked the government as to under what law and constitutional provision MQM was being given 50 per cent jobs in government departments.
He said that it was murder of merit and dacoity on the rights of hundreds of jobless Sindhi people. He said that struggle against this injustice would continue and courts would also be moved.
Qasimabad Taluka Naib Nazim, Hyder Shahani said that excesses had been committed against Sindhi people in the last 60 years adding that a large number of people were living under open sky after being marooned due to floods and rains. He said instead of offering them a helping hand, the government was demolishing old Sindhi settlements in Karachi.
ANP’s Haji Sher Zaman said that Sindhi people are the true heirs of Sindh province and they had the first rights over jobs and other resources.
He said that most of the ministries were held by MQM and secretaries were appointed after their consent in the government.
He added that Karachi was being made no go area for Sindhi people whose villages were being demolished. He said that ANP supports their struggle and would side with them through thick and thin.
NAWABSHAH: The members of “Sindh Bachayo Action Committee” took out a rally and staged demonstration outside local press club.
The rally started from Tarraqi Passand house and culminated at local press club. Carrying banners, placards and party flags, the protesters raised slogans against MQM and the governor of Sindh.
MIRPURKHAS: Dozens of activists of Sindh Bachayo Action Committee staged a protest demonstration outside press club. The protesters, led by Haider Mallah, raised slogans against the provincial government and demanded jobs on merit.
Hyder Mallah, Abbas Thebo, Aqeel Memon and Asghar Narejo deplored that despite killing of number of innocent persons on May 12 in Karachi no action was taken against MQM as it was involved in massive killing.
