PCB official denies rift

LAHORE, Aug 16: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shafqat Naghmi has said that there is no rift among the players and the officials of the board. All affairs, according to him, were running smoothly.

Denying that the episode between some national senior players and Director Cricket Operations Zakir Khan ever took place, Naghmi said that people with vested interests have always tried creating controversies ahead of mega events.

“The Twenty20 World Championship is being held next month and some people are trying to sabotage our efforts in building a strong team for the event by spreading such rumours and providing false information to the press. But the board officials and players are united in their efforts to bring laurels to Pakistan,” he said.—Sports Correspondent
