THATTA, Aug 16: In an atmosphere of love, sorrow and high sentiments, 10 fishermens recently released from Indian jail were received in their ancestral villages of Umer Borio, Babhio, Mor Chadai and Sajanwari on Wednesday.

Saleem Mallah and other fishermen said that during their incarceration in Indian jails they often had been given third degree treatment and subjected to inhuman behaviour.

They said that some 20 fishermen belonging to coastal towns Keti Bunder, Kharochhan, Ghorabari and Jati of district Thatta were still languishing in Jam Nagar and Bujj central jails after being captured from Kajhur creek in Pakistan territorial waters on December 22, 2006, by the Indian naval task force personnel.

Chairman Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, when contacted, underlined the importance of demarcation of oceanic limits between Pakistan and India, and said that the clear demarcation of marine borders could help reduce the incidence of arrests of poor fishermen of both the countries.
