KARACHI: Alig’s death condoled


KARACHI, Aug 16: City Naib Nazim Nasrin Jalil expressing grief over the demise of noted poet and journalist Khalid Alig said that his death had deprived the literary world of a great poet.

Describing his death as a big loss, Ms Jalil in a condolence message to the family of the late Khalid Alig said that his poetry was unique in many ways and he had devoted his entire life to the promotion of literature. She prayed that the departed soul might rest in eternal peace.

Old Boys’ Association


The executive committee of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association held an emergency meeting to condole the deaths of noted historian Prof Dr Riazul Islam and noted poet Khalid Alig.

Piloting a condolence resolution, Engr Zakir Ali Khan briefly highlighted the services of Dr Riazul Islam, the only professor emeritus of the University of Karachi.

Expressing sorrow over the demise of Khalid Alig, Mr Khan said that as a poet and a journalist he played his role fearlessly without compromising on principles.

The meeting offered fateha

for the departed souls and prayed that they might rest in peace.—APP
