Dispute among officials leads to delay in case registration

By Abdul Sami Paracha

KOHAT, Aug 15: The Ustarzai police registered a case of kidnapping after a delay of 24 hours due to a dispute over jurisdiction with the authorities of the Orakzai Agency, Dawn learnt here on Wednesday.

The family of a missing driver, Apan Ali, said that some people had hired his van (7791-Multan) on Monday but when he did not return they approached the police for registration of a case.

The driver’s family said the police refused to register the case, saying Mr Ali’s vehicle was found abandoned in the Wam Panra area in the Orakzai Agency.

The Ustarzai police said they had immediately informed a DSP about the incident, adding that it was now the responsibility of the political authorities concerned to find the missing driver.
