Directive to speed up recruitment process

PESHAWAR, Aug 15: The Public Accounts Committee of the provincial assembly has directed the NWFP Public Service Commission to expedite its recruitment process.

The PAC met here on Wednesday with Speaker of NWFP Assembly Bakht Jehan Khan in the chair. It discussed the recruitment procedure of the PSC.

The committee also directed government departments to review their appropriation accounts during meetings of the accounts committees. It asked the provincial finance department and the accountant-general to evolve a strategy in this regard.

It said timely revision of appropriation accounts would ease the unnecessary burden on the PAC.

The committee directed government departments to prepare appropriation accounts on the approved format.

It expressed concern over the delay in paying back the unutilised money to the finance department by the respective departments.

The meeting reviewed financial statements of the establishment and administration, population welfare, Zakat, Ushr and women development departments besides the Chief Minister and Assembly secretariats.

Meanwhile, NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani met members of the provincial assembly on Wednesday and listened to their problems.

Mr Durrani was apprised of various developmental projects, going on in different parts of the province. He underlined the adoption of a speedy and qualitative approach for the ongoing schemes.

Those who met the chief minister included Bashir Bilour, Hafiz Akhtar Ali, Mian Nisar Gul, Dr Zakirullah, Amir Rehman, Naeema Kishwar and Maulana Gauhar Shah.—APP
