RAWALPINDI, Aug 15: Boys clinched the top two positions in the Higher Secondary School Certificate annual examination of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, according to the results announced here on Wednesday. The pass percentage remained 70.27.

A total of 40,985 students - 15,806 boys and 25,179 girls - had appeared in the examination out of whom 28,781 were declared pass. Among them 9,564 were boys and 19,217 girls with their respective pass percentage of 60.55 and 76.36.

About 132 boys obtained A-1 grades, whereas only 35 girls attained that grade.

Mohammad Omer Zahid of the Punjab College of Information Technology, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, grabbed the overall first position by obtaining 990 marks; Mohammad Bilal Akhtar of Cadet College Hassanabdal obtained second position with 974 marks, while the third position went to Mawra Masud of Community Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pindigheb, Attock, who obtained 973 marks.

As many as 165 examination centres were set up in the districts of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum for the exams.

In the pre-engineering group, all the three top positions were clinched by boys. They were Mohammad Omer Zahid (first), Mohammad Muneer Zafar (second) and Faizan Ahmed Qureshi (third). The latter two boys were the students of Cadet College Hasanabdal.

In the pre-medical group, Mohammad Bilal Akhtar got first position, Mawra Masud got second while the third position was shared by Tanveer Abbas of Cadet College Hassanabdal and Amina Masud of Community Model Girls Higher Secondary School Pindigheb. Both obtained 965 marks.

Among the girls in the pre-medical group, the first four positions were clinched by the students of Community Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pindigheb.

In the commerce group, boys again got the first three positions. They were Syed Ali Amjad (first) with 901 marks and Syed Shabihul Hassan (second) with 874 marks of the Punjab College of Information Technology. The third position was obtained by Abdur Rehman Munir of Rawalpindi College of Commerce, Saidpur Road, who obtained 869 marks.

In the humanities group, Ali Ahmed, a private student living in Islamabad, remained first with 911 marks. The second position was grabbed by Salma Riaz of VIP Girls Inter College Dodial, Talagang, with 881 marks, while Yasmin of the same school got the third position by obtaining 879 marks.

There were 41 institutions which showed 100 per cent results whereas 11 showed zero per cent results.
