2 workers’ death sparks protest

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Aug 11: Scores of Christians staged a protest demonstration against the City District Government Faisalabad (CDGF) over deaths of two sewer men due to suffocation during the cleanliness of main lines in Shadab Colony on Saturday.

Reports said that Bashir Masih and another sewer man, who were busy at work without safety equipment, died of suffocation.

Hearing about deaths of the two sewer men, scores of Christians gathered outside offices of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) for not providing safety gadgets to employees. They demanded action against the officials concerned.

Meanwhile, City District Nazim Rana Zahid Touseef announced Rs200,000 each for the deceased sewer men.

He also directed Faisalabad Development Authority director-general to conduct an inquiry into the mishap.
