Arif Mansur’s death condoled

ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro, Deputy Chairman Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali and Leader of the House Waseem Sajjad have expressed grief over the death of Secretary Privatization Commission and Director HBL Arif Mansur and his wife, who died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

In their separate condolence messages, the chairman and his deputy described the deceased as a dedicated, upright and thorough professional, who distinguished himself by his hard work and devotion to duty.

In a condolence meeting Federal Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Zahid Hamid, senior officers and staff of the Privatisation Commission expressed condolences over the tragic and sudden death of Arif Mansur and his wife.

Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the Audit House, Islamabad with Auditor General (AG) Tanwir Ali Agha in the chair to express sorrow over the death of Arif Mansoor.

The AG eulogised the deceased as a brilliant officer. His services to the government were remembered since his joining the public service in 1974.

The officers of Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service expressed profound grief over the tragic incident.

Federal Secretary Ministry of Privatisation and Investment, Arif Mansur, and his wife died on Thursday in a road accident when they were on their way from Makkah to Madina after performing Umra.

Their three children were also travelling in the same vehicle. The younger son, Akmal Mansur, and daughter, Sabahat Mansur, received serious head injuries and were in critical condition. They are under treatment at Rabigh General Hospital while the elder son, Nabeel Mansur, was in stable condition.

On his promotion to BS-22, Arif Mansur assumed the office of the federal secretary on March 7. He served as additional secretary (budget) Finance Division from November 2003 to March 2007.

He also performed duties in the office of Auditor General as deputy auditor general, director general (International Relations and Coordination) and director general (Research & Development).

Mr Mansur received specialised trainings in budgeting and financial management in public sector from John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.

He had a large number of publications, papers, reports and studies on budgeting, accounting and management to his credit. He was from the Second Common CSS course.
