HYDERABAD, Aug 10: The central committee of the Sindh Taraqi Passand Party (STP) has observed that the decision to impose emergency would be violation of fundamental rights and constitution and such a move will be resisted by all democratic, nationalist and enlightened forces and civil society.

The committee, which met here on Friday, noted allotment of 50 per cent quota to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in services was a dacoity on the rights of Sindhi speaking people and violation of constitution. It resolved to challenge this move in the court of law and to resort to protest.

It approved the stp‘s affiliation to All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM). It also termed the formation of APDM in London during the multi-party conference convened by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) as a breakthrough for the restoration of democracy.

The meeting was held at the Taraqi Passand House under the chairmanship of Dr Qadir Magsi to discuss political situation in the country. It said formation of the APDM was the need of hour to get rid of the military dictatorship and interference of agencies in politics.

It resolved to fully participate in democratic movement from the APDM platform. The meeting decided to send a delegation led by Dr Qadir Magsi to the public meeting of the APDM being held in Rawalpindi on Aug 14.

It further decided to hold protest demonstrations throughout Sindh on Aug 17, as announced by the “Sindh Bachayo Action Committee”.

The meeting was in progress when the report was filed.
