BVH asked to account for ‘overspending’

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 9: The newly-established board of management (BoM) of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Wednesday took strong exception to what it called unauthorised spending of Rs90 million by the hospital administration against its powers to spend Rs2 million for emergency purposes.

The administration tried to justify the ‘overspending’, but it did not convince the board and asked for an explanation from the BVH administration and a report from the provincial health secretary. The board members were also not satisfied over the condition of the children ward and directed in charge Prof Qasim Khhichi to improve it. The board also asked the administration to submit a report on the complaint of patient Allah Wasaya, who complained against doctors at the BVH emergency ward.

The BoM that met for the first time also elected Muhammad Husain Cheema its chairman. The BoM consists of Malik Habibullah Bhutta, Masood Nasir, retired judge Amjad Khan and Prof G Sarwar Riaz.
