Spy agency accused of delaying bail

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 9: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti has urged Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take action against some officials of an intelligence agency who, he alleged, were trying to influence the sessions judge of Sibi to delay the disposal of his son’s bail petition.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mr Bugti said his son Shahzain Bugti had been arrested by the personnel of the Military Intelligence in Karachi on June 2. A bail petition was filed in the court of the sessions judge in Sibi two months ago but the court was frequently adjourning hearings at the behest of Maj Nadeem of the agency.

Mr Bugti alleged that Maj Nadeem and Maj Ali of the same agency were deputed in Sui and were involved in the killing of some Bugti tribesmen in the Nasirabad area on May 29. He said they were now conspiring to implicate Shahzain in false cases.

The JWP leader urged Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of the injustice being done with the petitioner. He said his son was being kept in detention on political grounds.
