Police fail to trace burglars

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: Police have failed to trace the burglars who broke into the house of a retired journalist and made off with cash and household articles over one week ago.

Asrar Ahmad, a founder member of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, said he had reported the July 29 incident to the Shalimar police but has yet to receive the copy of the FIR.

He said the burglars entered his house No 672, Street 61, G-11/2 from the kitchen after cutting the grill of the door when the residents of the house were asleep.

After ransacking the house, the burglars brought a suitcase containing Rs150,000 cash and documents to the kitchen and took away the cash after throwing out the documents.

They also went to other rooms and collected household articles. One of the accused collided with the bed of Mr Ahmed’s driver who raised alarm, which forced the burglars to run away.
