KARACHI: Man acquitted in rocket firing case

KARACHI, Aug 9: An additional district and sessions judge, South, on Thursday acquitted Hafiz-ul-Haq alias Osama, an activist of the banned Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Al-Almi organisation, in a rocket launcher firing case.

Sessions Judge Ghulam Rasool Samoo, who conducted the case in the Judicial Complex, exonerated the accused from the charges.

According to the prosecution, the accused had fired a shot with a rocket launcher from Hijrat Colony on July 28, 2004, which had hit a marriage hall near the PIDC building.

The accused was arrested after one year, on July 28, 2005. The police had registered a case against him under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Act.
