Accord on gas pipeline

TEHRAN, Aug 9: Special representative of the Iranian minister of petroleum for peace gas pipeline announced that as soon as India and Pakistan reach a final agreement, the pipeline contract would be ready for signing.

Hujjatollah Ghanimifard added that general agreement had been reached on the contract, especially about the price review clause.

“For this purpose, duties to be levied on gas passage through Pakistan should be determined. The Indian minister of petroleum was to visit Pakistan by the end of July to finalise the agreement, but the meeting has not taken place yet.

As soon as it is held, the contract will be signed in a meeting attended by experts of three countries simultaneously with a trilateral meeting between presidents of Iran, Pakistan and India,” Ghanimifard added.
